From the Battlefield to the Hobby Table
Hi! I’m a board game designer, a military veteran, and now, a new Warhammer 40k hobbyist. After eight years in the military, including some time overseas, I returned home and faced challenges with mental health. I needed an outlet, something that combined creativity, structure, and storytelling—and I found that in Warhammer 40k.
Though I’ve only been in the hobby for a couple of months, it’s already become an important part of my life. This site, Shovel and Brush, is where I document my journey: from painting my first miniatures to creating immersive campaigns.
What Drives Me
- Mental Health: This hobby helps me stay grounded and gives me a creative focus.
- Storytelling: As a game designer, I love creating worlds and characters. Warhammer 40k lets me explore that on a personal level.
- Community: I’m here to share my experiences and connect with others who love this hobby.
Whether you’re a fellow beginner or a seasoned veteran, I hope you find inspiration and camaraderie here. Let’s create cool shit.
